An experienced, high quality Houston DJ service should be able to provide you with references from many schools.  At Awesome Proms, we're always happy to provide references.  Make sure you see photos of the actual setup your DJ will be providing at your event.  In a world where EVERY DJ claims to have the "biggest and best" show, you need to see the proof before you commit to any DJ service.  If the DJ you're considering can't offer photos, that's a huge red flag.

Tip Two: Make sure your DJ carries adequate backup gear.

Quality DJ equipment is very reliable, but even the very best gear can have problems.  Make sure your Houston DJ brings adequate backup equipment because the prom must go on!

Tip Three: Make sure your DJ is covered by a proper liability insurance policy.

This can help put your mind at ease!  In the past, it was a good idea.  These days, it's absolutely necessary because many venues in the Greater Houston area will not allow a mobile DJ to set up their gear without seeing their proof of insurance!

Tip Four: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Prior to the online file sharing craze, the biggest expense any DJ had was their music library.  File sharing has made it easier for anyone to obtain a huge music library, but reliable, high quality DJ gear is still very expensive.  Fuel, insurance and other costs legitimate Houston DJ services face get higher every day.  If a competitor promises a show equal to ours for very little money, you should probably think carefully before accepting their offer!  (And make sure you get photos!)

Tip Five: Hire a professional DJ service and relax!

We often perform at large venues capable of hosting many events at once.  All too often, we're asked to loan our backup gear to a competing DJ service down the hall who has a serious problem and no backup gear.  If you hire a cheap DJ and their equipment shuts down half way through your dance, you risk paying a high price for using the lowest bidder.  Hire a professional Houston DJ with quality gear and lots of experience.  You'll be able to relax and enjoy your event!
